Spring is Blooming!

One of the first signs of spring in my area of Texas is one of my favorites!

When the peach blossoms start to bud and then bloom you just know warm weather and sunshine is around the corner.

The pop of pink and the vibrant green cuts through the dull gray of the end of winter and I wanted to bring that indoors!

With a couple of quick coats of Rustoleum's Universal Metallic spray paint in Satin Nickel these branches from the backyard were ready to bloom.

A half sheet of dark pink tissue paper cut into 2 inch-ish strips makes fabulous big blossoms.

A dab of hot glue to start and finish the bloom ensures that it won't unravel before its attached to the branches.

For the light pink blossoms I folded the strips of tissue paper in half and pinched the folded edge. The blossoms were a little bit fuller but smaller than the dark pink.

A little bit of hot glue... (Try to keep it on the flower... not on your thumb.)

The peach blossoms seem to bloom from all over with no real pattern so I wasn't super concerned with realistic placement - I just plopped them wherever if felt right.

I am obsessed with the front view. But then I realized that there was ugly hot glue behind the pretty flowers and that hot glule would be visible in the mirror over my mantle. The mantle that was the future home of my faux peach-ish blossoms.

Enter some craft paper and green yarn. A rough cut, a blob of glue, some perfect spring green yarn piled on top and voila! Leaves!

Perfect for covering the hot glue blobs and perfet for pulling in some of that amazing spring green color without going overbboard.

I'm loving the color and simplicity and touch of spring it brings to the house - without the pollen and sneezing!
